New accommodation for visiting health students in Bourke has been funding by the Federal Government's Rural Health Multidisciplinary Training (RHMT) program. Almost half a million dollars was allocated for the student accommodation.

The North West Academic Centre, which was established in December 2016 is based on the grounds of Bourke Hospital.

University-student-run health hubs at primary schools in far west New South Wales are beginning to fill gaps in allied health services for rural children.

Extended Clinical Placement Program (BHUDRH), medical students, Lucie, Caleb, Bonny, Emma and Sarah and dental student Emma Maxwell, went along to the local cinema recently to attend the exclusive premiere of Locusts.
